Letter No. 5
February 16, 2025
Dear DP,
In the last letter (which was admittedly written before the conclusion of Super Bowl LIX), I did not acknowledge their win. This letter aims to do just that.
With the elephant in the room out of the way, we had a lot of cool things happen this week. 34th Street Magazine released their first glossy magazine of 2025 (their February Love Issue!), the DP continued investigating the effects of federal government changes to Penn departments, and we all (of course) stormed Broad Street and celebrated in classic Philadelphia action. Here are some highlights from the week…
A welcome to New staffers!
This week, our departments began welcoming in new staffers. Our business annex was full on Monday evening with new faces in finance, strategy & promotions, business development, and analytics. Editorially, departments started hosting training sessions for new staffers. I can’t wait to see what you all accomplish this semester. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything!
STAFFERS OF THE WEEK
34th Street Print Managing Editor Jules Lingenfelter and Business Analytics Deputy Manager Pak Kanjanakosit are the staffers of the week! Jules spearheaded the print efforts for Street’s love issue, which was their first glossy magazine issue of the year. Pak is doing such an amazing job with business analytics — working on several cool projects, including identifying the most popular print pickup locations on campus.

34th Street Issue No. 1
34th Street Issue No. 1
Check out Street’s glossy magazine issue! It features 48 pages of gorgeous designs and amazing stories. Our design team worked alongside Street’s editors through four production nights, making sure that the issue was curated with creativity.
Some names to recognize here: Norah Rami, who brought all of the pieces together. Insia Haque, whose design talents are just extraordinary (front cover!). Hannah Sung, bringing together every story on the Street website. Asha Chawla and Garv Mehdiratta, for making sure that all of the content is copy checked and up to standards. Jackson Ford, for making production nights so much fun and being such an essential part of multimedia. Kate Ahn, Dana Bahng, and Annelise Do for persisting through the nights in designing the issue.
The list goes on and on. This wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of y’all’s hard work and dedication.
Off the Presses
Have a great week!
See you all in the office this week. Feel free to stop by and say hi!
